Local Gem List
If you searched “best places to eat” you’d likely come across a list of the same 5-10 places. How do we know that? Been there. Done that.
Our communities are rich with flavors and experiences, but when searching, the popular is prioritized over the prized. We seek to do something different.
Those 5-10 places that show up in every search? We love them too, but if you’re a local, you probably already know and love them. They’re on that list because the locals made them so well loved that they gained national attention. We love that for them, but what if we could reclaim our local narratives? Shine light on the lesser-known, hyper-local establishments which are vital to our neighborhoods.
That’s our goal.
The Local Gem List is a rotating list of local establishments our communities hold dear. Our community will inform the list. With the click of a button, tell us if you’d go again (or not), and we’ll use that to shape our algorithms. Our rankings will consider more than volume to give more places a fair shake at rising to the top.
At times we’ll see some of those same 5-10 because indeed our communities prize them too, but if we’re successful, the Local Gem Guide’s Gem List will introduce new names often buried in the rankings because they are more focused on the kitchen than reviews.
Together, let’s find a new way to support local restaurants. Let’s experience newness with the same old places neighbors already love.
